The Farmer And His Wife Poem by Ginny Cadle

The Farmer And His Wife

THE FARMER AND HIS WIFE
Let me tell you a story about a farmer and his wife
They lived in a cozy little log cabin and lived a happy life
Each year their children would come from far and near
It was a tradition for them to get together every year
There was a chill in the air on that autumn day
As the farmer loaded the wagon with hay
A gentle breeze caused the leaves to fall to the ground
As he placed the cornstalks and pumpkins all around
The wife was busy cooking a feast for later that night
She tried a new recipe and hoped it would turn out alright
The smell of cinnamon was in the air
As she placed the hot pie by the opened window with care
She walked over to the maple tree where her husband stood
They held hands as they took a stroll through the woods
As he looked at the many different colors on the ground
He said "Honey no prettier season could be found"
The farmer and his wife smiled with pride
As their family climbed upon the wagon for a ride.
