The First Encounter Poem by Niki Nicholas Nkuna

Preliminary camaraderie and love is fairy tale, confusing and mindboggling
But less equal to the disappointment and the hurt that ensues after the fact
However, when consummated in the positive, it is indescribably ecstatic

No matter how much a person reveals his or her emotions of love in the first encounter
One would never know the truth
Every word uttered or action taken, is reserved lest the precious glass slips and breaks

There will come a time when the truth in the form of the real emotion of love is released
That will be the time when the heavens open up and let the flood of the tears of joy or pain rain

When one has love, it has to be given to the right person right away
Dangling it in the face it hurts the eyes and the heart
