The Flood Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

The Flood

Rating: 5.0

Leaving behind disastrous taste,
It came, an unexpected guest.

Came, a lot on the way to drown,
So thirsty, it drank drown the town.

The river losing her very address,
Changed the course and wore a new dress.

City fathers' bluster faced death,
Some faint hearts paid with loss of breath.

Feeding on with people's frayed fears,
The flood when worsened drank their tears.

With loss of things that stared like ghost,
Lifetime's fond memory was lost.

Receding, whilst claiming some life,
It left alive a flood of strife.

Not easy forgetting this flood
That shed blood amidst murky mud.

Some time back Baroda experienced very heavy rains (some 16 inches in a single day) . This came with heavy rains all over Gujarat and rivers were in spate. River Vishvamitri flowing across the city was in flood that spilled spreading disaster all over.

A very vivid portrayal of the wrath of Mother Nature through excessive rain. Great imagery and a great rhyme throughout this wonderful poem. Another brilliant write, sir. I concur with Bro. Bernard 's heartwarming comments.
