The Four Monsters Poem by Sarah Riley

The monsters are alive.
There are different types, four to be exact.
Different things trigger different monsters;
Sadness, anger, guilt, shame, even happiness.
Ana always seems the nicest.
She will motivate me to my goals.
Always there to push me in the 'right' direction.
It won't be long until she pushes me to death.
Debra comes out when I least expect it.
If she comes out alone,
She is only here a few days.
Unless Debra forces Colleen out,
Then it can last a while.
When Colleen is here,
She seems like the good one;
The escape from the others.
Only worrying the bystanders,
Who can't fight the monsters.
For only I can.
And then lastly there is Sue.
The queen monster.
The only monster who can end all monsters.
The real battle is between Sue and I.
For all these monsters live inside me,
And hopefully one day will die as well.
I just hope I don't have to kill myself,
To kill the monsters within.
