The Gift Of Laughter Poem by Sonya Annita Song

The Gift Of Laughter

Rating: 5.0

One day an angel
Walking slowly
On a sandy beach below,
Wondered sadly why their music
So uplifting did not flow
Down to the earth
That seemed so burdened
By its woes during the day.
"If only there was something
I could do to carry this away, "
The angel thought and sighed
As she lay down upon the sandy beach,
And as she lay there, thinking, blinking,
Wondering what there was to teach,
She fell asleep and in a dream
She heard the most delightful sound
Of bubbles tickling from the waves
The sandy grains upon the ground.
It was the most enchanting thing
On earth that she had ever heard
That when she woke she didn't know
Exactly what had just occurred.

She felt the need to gather seashells,
Conches of enormous size,
And line them up along the shoreline
Underneath the pearly skies.
And when the moon saw all these seashells
As it rose to watch the earth,
It heard the song the waves were singing,
Celebrating in their worth
The life that had been trusted to them
Full of love and happiness,
And filled with joy it took this song
And spread it with its soft caress
To all the sleeping hearts and minds,
To even those still wide awake,
And gentle bubbles filled with laughter
In the day did finally break.
