The Girl From Chile - Poem by Dilantha Gunawardana

If all the Andean glaciers
Melted to your lips

If all the Chilean grapes
Were macerated by your kiss

If iridescent stars dappled your visage
Hypnotized by your grenadine smile

If tides of nectar soaked Valparaiso
Bowing to your moon-lit eyes

If all the gods cried like babies
To be pacified by your breasts

If all the wine from Maipo valley
Is poured from your eyes at each and every gaze

There is a lass in the land of the poets
Even Neruda from his grave would lament....
