The Hesitation Poem by Jan Oskar Hansen

The Hesitation

Choices
The wind has been blowing hard today
telling of winters to come and high heating bills.
Now that I'm old and walks like a sailor on deck
of a ship in a storm I ought to be reflective
think of the life I lived and do some repenting.
"I did it my way" Sinatra, is a bit egocentric.
What happened to my life just happened I didn`t
plan anything more severe than having a bath
first thing in the morning putting oil in the car
checking the tyres.
There is the death, of course, it happens to Popes
and Hitler, mind, in various forms yet the thought
holds no terror in my heart, I go on living till it stops
because I never planned a thing.
