The Hole In The Doughnut Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Hole In The Doughnut

Rating: 5.0

i am full
eating is useless
my stomach
has no purpose
i have this doughnut
and i raise
it in space
and i look through
its hole

i want to see
what is the reason
for emptiness

the hole has more
content
than the doughnut
itself

i put my finger
inside it
and somehow
i begin to feel
confident

inside the hole
i know
i am not alone anymore.

inside the hole
again i become whole.
