The 'I And Thou' Of Poetry Poem by Bill Grace

The 'I And Thou' Of Poetry

Reading John Henry Newman's 'Beyond the Veil'
Reasures me of the 'I and Thou' of poetry.
Just as Elizabeth Browning celebrates
Her 'long lost saints' it helps greatly
If once you had them,
To appreciate what was lost -
To appreciate what the poet means.

The phrase 'I and Thou' is a famous one from the work of Martin Buber.
