The Island Of Your Smile Poem by Rod M.Peters

The Island Of Your Smile

Rating: 5.0

Oh, indeed it'd easier to abdicate
And walk out into exile in a cove of silence
Than to raise a bridge of words
And steal over the ocean of your indifference.

But how long will I derive comfort
In warmest solitude, from my music,
My books, my thoughts and reveries
Before the ghost of you creeps in unbeckoned?

Will another bridge of words then
Bring me, penitent, to walk across
The ocean of your indifference again?
Will I still find it there, the island of your smile?

Heartfelt, deep thoughts, and beautiful rendition of words. A very passionate poem. Thanks for sharing Rod.

Thanks Chinedu. An attempt to push the use of metaphors to the very limit where, perhaps, it begins to backfire a bit! Treading on thin ice there!

This is much to my liking. Indeed, it's off to my favourites' list. Fine metaphor and a good rhythm.

Well, my friend, sure glad to be able to move a fine poet to make a comment like yours. Perhaps poetry is not such a waste of time!
