The Joker's End Poem by Thomas Taylor

The Joker's End

He saw it
Every second
He watched it happening as if it were a dream
But it wasn't
It never was
The thief sighed
He actually had some hope for this one
Hope that maybe he wouldnt be as foolish
As foolish as all of the ones who had come before him
But he was wrong
like always
It was the same every time
The new one would come along
And be a great thing
He would be fun and kind
Then he would see the siren
And the Siren would smile at him
Talk to him
And then they would be together
So fast it would happen
One day the Siren was talking to him
The next they were seeing each other
And he would be lulled
Lulled into a false sense of security
That was always thier demise
They would get lulled into that
Then when they weren't looking
She would get them
When they thought things just couldnt get any better.
They would suddenly turn up dead
And the thief knew
Always knew it was her
But there was nothing he could do about it
Because soon enough another would come along
And the cycle would start over
Only to end the same way
To tell the truth
The thief was getting quite tired of this...

((Disclaimer: close to a year after writing this I heard a song by a band called Wolfmother named The Joker & The Thief. I would just like to say this poem is in no way connected to or inspired by that song. But It is a good song and I encourage my viewers to look it up))
