The Journey Across The Pond (Varied Spatial Peace) . Poem by chize ryan ogunkah

The Journey Across The Pond (Varied Spatial Peace) .

It's An overcast noon sunken sky
with a timorous sun so shy
Like some ominous presence in the sky
As if to invade the sanity of lethargic Luton
There is no sign of pelting showers
Only the tempo (temper) of a bi-polar ambience
Scattered in beautiful surging spaces
And a strange muddle in the wit's deep recesses.
Under this melancholic cloud
Minds are split between
realism and pseudo-palpable mythological hope
anxious for when this phase shall pass
or whether it has come to stay
being that is who they are and it, them
or is it? That eerie touch that possesses this space
and defines the rules that apply
to the desperate minds in this corner.

and on the other side of the deep (tide)
are clear sprightly skies
with the sun sitting boldly atop its chamber
overlooking the criss-crossing of experiences
and glistening frames making strides
as if hastening to a brewing battle.
The sound of organised chaos
Roars through this unsightly space
With sweaty Bodies barging in and hearts thumping
Warm spirit, tattered hope
Finding solace in this space to cope
In this slow vortex of minds pondering.
And in the midst, chortling and haggling,
And a chaotic calm that possesses this space

the former, juxtaposition of sorts
A sightly exterior and coordinated calm
but a turbulent core
The latter, echoes of peace in the rough
with an inner calm composure
And a sign that reads "Welcome to Lagos".
