The Last Straw Poem by Alfred Ramos

The Last Straw

Rating: 5.0

I can’t believe what I just saw
I believe this will be the last straw

He had his arms around your waist
You, whispering words I could almost taste

His face had that certain glow
How you slipped away from me I’ll never know

I can’t believe what I just saw
You are breaking a universal law

Your smile gave away your vanity
It is making me lose my sanity

You have him wrapped around your little finger
If ever I saw a sucker, he’s a dead ringer

But then I’ve been down this road before
Now I feel I’m steamrolled to the floor

I can’t believe I couldn’t see the flaw
I truly believe this is the last straw

You can’t see me, but I can see you
Quite transparent through and through

As I hid in the shadows of our affair
A scent hovers that you just don’t care

Does he know who you really are?
Should I show him my defining scar?

The impression that will lead to certain heartache
Or should I just let you add him as another mistake

So this could be the last straw
A plainer picture I can’t draw
