The Lens Of Time Poem by Dark Revenge Angel Night

The Lens Of Time

Softly
I remember your lips
So softly
Words that dripped
From your lips
To my ears.

I never used to look back,
Not at you.
What good would it do
To remember the hurt,
The burn of being spurned?
I couldn't let your face
Or your voice
Creep into the place
Where my dreams hid.
Letting go was easier that way.
It was nice to think of you
As wrong.
Of our love as a Michael Bolton song.
Tragic, short lived, very emotional.
But, what justice is this?
Could hate pass as penance?

No, nothing could.
But, now I smile
When I think of the short while
I loved you.
Your full laugh
And big, beautiful eyes
Bring sighs,
Sighs of fondness in those private hours.
You see, through the lens of time
We see things not as we want,
But as they are.
Whether you are near or far,
Know that I have a place,
A special space,
For you in my heart.
