The Little Soul

Said the Little Soul “Oh for joy, oh for joy
I get to see, to feel, and to smell and to touch!
Said the Little Soul who wanted to live
Who wanted to come to earth so much

His time it came soon enough in that line
He was asked “Do you prefer he or she? ”
He said “I do not care that I am or am not
Only, that I am allowed to be”

They said “Well, alright, here is the deal
Everything here, you won’t remember a thing
You will be born and you will get to live
But I warn you, this is not a game”

You must choose to live, wrong or right
If you do right, you may return back here
If you choose wrong, well, you know what that means
That would be bad I fear”

“You must sign here, along this line
Among the pages of the book of life
For it is written, those who get to live
In this book their names we write”

In that next moment, away from heaven sent
And born into a infant boy, the soul he went
And too held true, he remembered never not
From where forth he came or the gift he had got

He was born into a family where family was strong
And be he William was christened his name
His mother she loved him so very much
And soon brothers and sisters they came….

Little Soul inside me looking through mine eyes to see
Do you know, do you control that of my life
Do you choose wrong or right, or are just there for the ride
Are you in the words that I choose to write

Are you behind our eyes when we find love in our lives
Is it you that makes us need so much inside
Is it you that while we live that fills our heart with a need to give
Little Soul that looks out through my eyes

Do you know the part, when we cry, does it break your heart
Or is that where you live, the heart
When tears begin to fall, does it matter most to you of all
Is it you that controls tears when they start

Is it you within our lives, that gives us strength when we come in last
Although we failed we did the best we could
And are you too behind the laughter, when sometimes we act a fool
Is it you that sometimes makes us feel so good

Little Soul behind my eyes, riding for your life
I hope, for you, I do it right
And maybe someday, when I am long and gone away
You’ll know I loved you so, looking through my eyes.

poet William Wordsworth

I AM not One who much or oft delight
To season my fireside with personal talk.--
Of friends, who live within an easy walk,
Or neighbours, daily, weekly, in my sight:
