The Lonely Child. Poem by Sharni Baker

The Lonely Child.

She wasn't an ordinary child, face of innocence and a past of pain.
People would try there hardest to avoid her, as she stared at the clock and watched the time pass her by.

Sitting in the classroom, so dark and so lonely. Glaring in fear. The other students stood there and laughed as she covered her ears, swaying back and forth. Skin so pale, hair so dark.
The students calling her 'emo' even though she's clearly not.

Strapped in a jacket, it just wasn't right. People made it so tight then dragged her away. Tears rolling down her face, watching her teacher slowly disappear around the corner of the old dusty classroom.
