The Long Road Home Poem by Lance Carthen

The Long Road Home

If you should find yourself alone.
Sitting outside in the cold.
Crying with a broken heart, in fear.

If you find that no one loves you.
Or that lies have killed the truth.
Time to pack away your tears and go home.

There was a man who died for you.
He gave his life and his love too.
They hung him from a dirty cross.
He died, three days later, he arose.

If someone screams your name in vain.
Your sick and tired of all the hate.
You walk alone lookin at the sky.

If your soul becomes weak.
You wanna just fall to your knees.
Time to pack away your tears and go home.

Once a great man performed miracles for the world to see.
He healed the crippled and made a dead man breathe.
He promised you heaven if you would walk his way.
They condemned the savior on that cross in calgary.

As you walk alone remember what Jesus told.
Forgive all those who try hurt your soul.
When the devil shows his teeth just turn the other cheek.
Just keep on a walkin down that road in the cold.

When I see you coming I will greet you at the door.
Bring you in from the pain of that world.
You will have no more worries, you wont be alone.
I'll be waiting for you son to come home.
