The Longest Human Life In Time Poem by Francis Duggan

The Longest Human Life In Time

The longest human life in time is not a long span
On average a few years more for a woman than 'tis for a man
Three score and ten years the average lifetime time span we are told
The World's oldest human being in time not very old
On how long we live there is no guarantee
This sunset for some the last they will see
The rich and the poor and the great and the small
To the scythe of the Reaper one night or day have to fall
I am not one of those who is full of elan
But I sure want to live for as long as I can
The clock on our lives it keeps ticking away
And yesterdays's newly born a day older today
On looking back the years we realize time ticked on fast
And we can only live in the now since the past is the past.
