The Look Poem by Paul Larmour

The Look

i remember that day she came to town
i fell in love, i fell down
my head was aching, my heart did pound
the earth rose up and turned around

she had the beauty of the inner kind
that heats your soul and blows your mind
her hair like strings of love that bind
their strenght is their love so rare a find

she moved through the crowd in a shinning light
everything compared to her was night
she floated on an air of pure delight
that sapped my will and drained my might

i caught her eye in a glancing look
my legs they quaked and shoulders shook
my blood turned into a babbling brook
and in that moment my heart she took

there was nothing to see, nothing but her
every melted, everything a blur
i called out but my tongue turned to fur
and every second seemed like an hour

in the blink of an eye she had disappeared
gone forever, vanished i feared
for that moment i was peered
and now i feel my heart is speared

in a moments look can you fall in love
can you feel your floating on a cloud above
your heart turns into a pure white dove
she is the hand and your the glove

in a spark of light, in a speck of time
you lose your reason and gain your rhyme
and in that second she was mine
and on that look for years i'll dine
