= The Lovers Game =
Written By: Connie R. Smith

Babe - I remember your touch -
and your passionate kisses.
Holding you close to my heart -
enjoying the sweet feeling of bliss...

^*^*^*^*^*^

Wondering if you felt the same
or were you teasing me -
Playing the lovers game...

^*^*^*^*^*^

Many times you would build
me up - for the big event -
of letting me down.
Now that I need you -
you're nowhere to be found.

^*^*^*^*^*^

Were you playing a game of
charades - simply acting out
the wild emotions -
Knowing your love was really
not there? If so - You played
the role so well - for I didn't
have the slightest notion.

^*^*^*^*^*^

Playing the lovers game -
of let's pretend -
Knowing one day our dream
had to end. building me up -
for the big let me down -
Now that I need you -
you're nowhere around.

^*^*^*^*^*^

Guess I could never be equal to you.
For you have no sense of shame.
You'll do whatever it takes
to win - at playing the lovers game.

^*^*^*^*^*^

I gave you my heart, body and soul
I tried to give my very best.
Thought we had joined hearts -
but honey, your heart failed
the ultimate test.

^*^*^*^*^*^

It's time for me to bow out
like a lady - before I walk
the path of shame.
Yet, I know it won't matter to you
For you'll just keep right on playing
'The Lovers Game.'
