The New Moon Poem by Edwina Aleme

The New Moon

Watching the moon
As it shines…..
Listening to the crickets
As they chirp…

Looking at the stars
As they cluster together
And the trees as they sway
From side to side…

Paying more attention to the moon
It looked back at me from above
Like an eye slowly shutting its eyelid...
I looked again and it showed me its beautiful color,
As a sterling silver, I thought…
What a beauty the moon is,
Standing on its own as a crown princess
With the stars as her subjects...
As I sat down
I listened to the wind blowing cool air on me
It finds its way through the strands of my hair
And whispering soft sounds to my ears…
The moon sat up there in the sky at night…

Her subjects the stars, surrounding her
The crickets sang different notes,
The air of the night and its soft sound
Gently sending the moon to sleep
As she shuts her eyelids
And its goodnight to everyone
Watching her from below……..
