The new tenant stood by the door of her heart
rapped it thrice with his clenched fist.
he noticed the cobwebs on the door knob
signifying that the old tenant had long gone
A rattle of keys came from within.
as the door opened the un-oiled hinges squeaked in protest,
for it had been long since they had done this physical exercise
He was shown every room in her heart.
he was pained to the very core by the broken furniture,
evidence-ing the recklessness of the old tenant.
he had left her heart in shambles
Without hesitation, he took out the hammer of faithfulness
and expertly repaired every broken leg of trust
firmly driving in the nails of assurance
Took out a spanner of comfort from his tools box
and began to fix the tap of tears that had been leaking daily -
soaking her pillow every night
He vigorously dashed upstairs
stripped down every picture of disappointment off the walls of her mind
he intoxicated her with an image of his smile
dusting away every speck of doubt and took his residence.
