The Ocean Beneath Us Poem by Tanner Herndon

The Ocean Beneath Us

Rating: 4.0

Nobody dies alone,
Death, will not allow this,
Death will be right there waiting,
His black crow's wings spread open wide,
Spread open wide, ready to embrace his new friend,
You'll no longer have a date-of-birth,
Only a certificate of Death,
And in celebration of your dying,
Every year, Death will throw for you, a grand party,
In your honor,
No contrived smiles, to flatten the mood,
Or turn gray the color, from the liars' paint,
Only happiness, to behold,
Come forth to sit on a throne,
In your humble home in the warm underworld,
You rest your spine, as your head may loll like a wilted flower,
And around you, all those whom are dead, may dance,
Only the living weep, to make rain for the dead,
Our tears supply their source of water,
They drink our salted tears,
So they may re-hydrate,
And dance forever.
