The One Poem by David Stern

The One

Rating: 5.0

Once I met the one
She was not the one
She missed just one thing
I missed more than one

I'm the broken one
I'm the sorry one
She flew without care
She was not the one

Now I miss someone
Waiting for someone
I'll know right away
When I meet the one

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Written on May 30th,2016. Belongs to 'Post Mortem' collection.
Woke up in the morning with the first two verses in my head and wrote the rest in the next several hours. Short and simple but it took almost three years to admit it. I don't know why I wrote the third stanza - hoping against hope? Feel free to replace 'When' with 'If'.
