The One Poem by Francis Duggan

The One

Rating: 5.0

The one who does not bow to king or queen
And does not speak too loudly to be seen
And give support to and not put others down
This is the person who should wear the crown.

The one who can laugh though the going is tough
And life already has been hard enough
Yet that poor person has the power to say
Why worry when it won't help me anyway.

The one who helps someone without asking for pay
And perform at least one good deed every day
And of the favours performed for others does not boast
This type of person I admire the most.

The one who will laugh with but never at
And pat the dog and never kick the cat
And never do seem arrogant or too proud
This is the one who stands out in the crowd.

The one who goes through life in a quiet way
And money owed to others gladly pay
This type of person others do inspire
And this type of person is the one I most admire.
