The One Who Got Away Poem by Taylor Hodges

The One Who Got Away

We were best friends
You were driven
By passion
A writer and an artist you had been.
Oh, i sat and listened
To all the things you had spoken
The words all caught in...
My heart.
You spoke the words 'I'm leavin'.'
I think i might have stopped breathin'
Something died down deep in...
My heart.
This hill is oh so steep
And I just wish to fall asleep
Not dream of your clumsy feet..
When we were dancing.
And i proceed
To need this need
To fill this void of mine.
I'm slowly fading
Well i'm healing too.
