On the wall
In my
father's den
There is
a picture
of a relative
Who was in
the Great War
Wearing a
brimmed hat
on his head
And a
military uniform
With buttons
down the middle
And at
the pockets
His body
up to
his mid section
in a circle
And the circle
in a square
A somber face
probably thinking about
the impending danger
he is about
to face
Wondering
what will
happen to him
And if he
will make it
out alive
To see
his friends
and family
once again
