The Promised Land Poem by James Papastamos

The Promised Land

God had kept His promise. He did!
The living God lives by His word. He does! !
As rain clouds burst with activity
Anointing His chosen ones with
Drops of divinity

Abraham donned his robe of faith
Sacrificial sons to belt it waste

A Dead Sea, pools of activity, amid
Rolling hills of Galilee, that
Pressed our barren minds with thoughts of
Absolute infinity, yet divided by
Rivers of faithless uncertainty

Vineyards danced, daring such expectation
Its fruitless branches broke forth,
Forming a gateway to Jerusalem, for

All roads lead to Jerusalem...
