The Sacred Tree Poem by M.L. Squier

The Sacred Tree

I wonder have you ever been beside a river?
I would like to be there with you
Any spring or darkest winter
Will brightest fall
As long as you are there!
If I truly love thee I must try to rhyme
Feeling and reason
And discover the Sacred Tree,
If I truly love thee I must love the sea
And all the things that live in me,
If I truly love thee I want to love you
Just once before the end and the dawn.
I want to unfold my life
As beautifully as
You have bloomed
Into mine.
