The Scarlet Dream Poem by Salamon Atmosphere

The Scarlet Dream

Without being able to remember the moment I fell asleep
I woke up sleeping inside of a castle keep
Upon the floor of gold their laid a rug so neat
In scarlet red, right below my crooked feet

Every limb of my body was broken and torn
That I could see as I stared into the mirror on the wall
From the torch, sitting right beside the door
A tiny ray of light lit up a face I had never seen before

Right behind me was a man with squinted eyes
Skin so dark it could be seen at night
A grin so foul, and teeth so white
That i dared not scream nor fight

He said to me:

I think you will come to understand that you have died. When opening this door leading to the other side, you will enter a space without time. But first, you will be talking to another fella, who will let you in to either hell or heaven. Where you end up does not matter, not to me and not to you.

Confused by the latter I spoke to the manlike beast behind me:

If the choice is mine to make, why would anyone, ever, choose hell over heaven?

He sighed and chuckled for a bit, then he pointed towards the door once more:

Behind this passage, there is not time, there is nothing to decide, good or bad, no such thing as life. Nothing to tell ugly from nice or love from despise. Eternity in paradise, its all made up, lies! Greatness takes its time, for people to realize, and they never do so until after you died. You will never think to look for light, until the candle burns out. You will never feel true love, until it kills you from inside. You will never scream for your life, until you've seen it is passing you by.

You see, paradise is being able to laugh and then cry, kiss and then fight, feel bad and then smile. Yes, paradise is what you've always seen but never caught, to live and let die.
