The Scholar Prays Poem by Satish Verma

The Scholar Prays

The mythical chariot
comes again and again to take
me away. I refuse to leave.

You were not like you are today.
I think about the cosmic. The duplicity.
Man builds knowledge.

The eagle does not dive.
Sharpens the talons. Snake invites
him to carry him away for food.
