The Seeds Of Life Poem by chris schwartz

The Seeds Of Life

Did you nurture the sun flowers
As they were growing?
Awkward in appearance
Their younger years,
They grew too fast,
Their stems too thick
And their branches
Too short
To withstand
The upcoming storm
Of July.
Or did you just,
Watch them grow
In innocence
Their hearty leader vines
Bursting
Through the tough dry soil
That their seeds were
Planted in
And enjoy them as
They sprouted
And grew
Too fast
To capture
The memory
Of that special summer
When they all
Seemed to blossom
At once.
From seed,
To cut
Their blossoms
Are still eloquent
And the tears
They are related.
Wish I could have seen
My flowers bloom
Before time
Allocated.
