The Silence Of Suicide Poem by Nadine Melinda Kodi

The Silence Of Suicide

She is only in grade 11 and is thinking about suicide,
when and how are the negative thoughts that reside.
Her family cannot hear her cry or see that she's hurting,
she keeps failing in school, her plans just aren't working.
Her friends keep telling her to leave school,
they laugh at her and make her look like a fool.
She just wants to pass the grade,
I just hope her thoughts of suicide fade.

He is only 13 years old and in secondary school,
his classmates ostracize him and say he's not cool.
Due to his health condition, the doctor prescribed medication,
ever since he has gained weight and is subjected to public humiliation.
He feels all alone with no one to talk to,
but a sincere 'how are you? '' and he'll open up and tell you.
They make fun of him and call him fat,
if they only knew how he felt, they would not call him that.
Perhaps his classmates find teasing him very amusing,
if only they knew the pain that comes from cyberbullying.
It's probably funny if you're the one laughing,
but think of how you would feel, if you were the one being laughed at!

I write this poem to every teen contemplating suicide,
do not allow your circumstances dictate what you feel inside.
Dark days come, but go when the sun comes up,
life is a gift which you have, don't ever give it up!
Fight from within, change your routine, change your mindset,
you are going to make it through and one day you will jet set.
