The Slow Dance Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

The Slow Dance

I only want to slow dance
With you all through the night.
When you draw me close up to you,
I know everything’s alright.

Let others do the Cha Cha Cha,
The Boogie, and the Twist.
But girl I need the slow dance,
To feel you close to me like this.

When I put my arms around you,
And glide across the floor,
While looking into your gleaming eyes,
I could dance forever more.

As I take your hand and twirl you,
Then you return to me,
I think this is the way that love
Was always meant to be.

As others watch us slow dance,
Some may think it sweet.
To me it’s just another way,
To say I love you on my feet.
