The Stolen Generation Poem by Paul Buttigieg

The Stolen Generation

Rating: 4.5

Someone
Turns out the last light
A Blackout
And
A dormitory full of black kids sigh
Unknowing
Waiting for parents to return
A shallow promise from government guardians
If you sleep
A white education waits
If you wake
And
Forgive
The theft of your black soul
And
The destruction of your family

Robot voices dont read poems with the feeling and emotion and subtleties of interpretation the poem deserves... Pauls poems are more alive and nuanced and tender than a robot is capable of ever reading. Nice try using an artificial intelligence but it makes me sad for Paul and his love for Nerine that the poem is " read" so badly and deadpan.

.A nice poetic imagination, Paul. You may like to read my poem, Love and Lust. Thanks.
