The Story Of Our Love I: Recollection Of Twilight Poem by David DeAngelo

The Story Of Our Love I: Recollection Of Twilight

Rating: 2.7

I stare at the rising sun alone
Flowers in hand
A girl in my heart
Wishing that you were here but you’re not

I think back to that cool summer night
You lay in my arms
Your warmth on my skin
Loving you but knowing not what’s next

I talked to you and you talked to me
Your plan for your life
Your trip to Boston
Sharing secrets but learning no more

I walked barefoot with you through the street
Your hand was in mine
The stars in your eyes
Your hair blowing but the winds changing

I danced with you in the parking lot
There by my car
Air full of music
Spinning in darkness but out-of control

I thought the night couldn’t get better
Your kiss on my lips
Your breath on my face
Holding you but losing you too soon

And I’d give anything just to be able to see your smile as you look up at me
To walk with, to run with, to dance with you to our song once again in the night
To laugh with, to cry with, to whisper soft sweet words of my love for you
And I’d give anything just to be able to go back to that night with you
