The Strawberry Tart Poem by Peter Bain

The Strawberry Tart

Rating: 5.0

Four wee hungry bairns
Desperate for a treat
Spot a strawberry tart
And stumble to their feet

Mummy doesn't notice
Mummy doesn't care
Her love of self indulgence
Her priorities unfair

She savors the strawberry center
Wee Christy's in a daze
Mums devouring a heavenly star
Oblivious to his gaze

Poor wee souls in waiting
Four wee scruffy stares
Mummy with her audience
This is how she shares

They know she'll throw a scrap or two
She'll let them lick the casing
Strawberry tarts and parental hearts
Some issues bairns are facing
