The Typhoon Of Southwest Winds Went Through At Last Poem by Ahmad Shiddiqi

The Typhoon Of Southwest Winds Went Through At Last

The typhoon of southwest winds went through at last
Has crashed the neighborhoods by the swamps
And caused bad disaster in the entire village

The vulture shook himself among the cactus trees
And his droppings fell right on
The stone statue

In her amiable way
Lucy was telling the truth in life
She came to be the woman most loved

Freddy did not blame love
But he was a protagonist
In that circle of life

(dedicated to a great poet, W. S. Merwin)
