The Upper Hand Poem by Michelle Asswit

The Upper Hand

She said she was sorry
I said 'don't apologize'
She asked me why not
I said because she was right
She stood there speechless
Like she's just seen a ghost
I asked her why so amazed
And it was because it was the first time
I said she was ever right and I wasn't
I told her that wasn't a true, it couldn't have been
But then I remembered why I was her friend
