The Waves Poem by Jesse Potter

The Waves

The waves
breathing in and out, a peaceful resistance
the stronger they get, the greater the distance
a firefly glows, its own special hue
reflected back by the oceans deepest blue
A life of its own
stronger and greater than ever can be known
I think of all this as i drift away
into the light of the fading day
The sky is splashed with colors so sweet
heavy on the line where the sea and heavens meet
As the darkness will fall
I hear in the distance the sirens call
she beckons sweetly to me
come and leave the world for the sea
As tempting as this may be
I must elude the temptress of the sea
for my life is back on land
And with open heart and arms she waits for me
