The Way I See It. Poem by David de Haas

The Way I See It.

I'll never be anybody's hero or the legend of a story
Or a saint that's bound for glory but even a simple man wants to feel this way...
I'll never write a song that lasts forever or a book for all the ages.
I’ll just sit here and listen.... to all your words and stories
Then maybe. I'll understand....
I'm just another page in history one that you would skip if it was a book.
I'm some one you would work past on the street and never take a second look.
Just another face, another life... wasted bound for nothing, an endless path.
Another broken heart that time may heal.
Nothing but friends to live for...
Only to bare witness to their happiness and sadness. Heart ache
I wait...... A light appears and goes out just as quickly as it came.
But those glimpse those flickers of light and warmth.
Keeping me alive... giving me strength
But for how long.....
How long can me really last in a losing battle.
