I've seen The writing on the Wall
It's there for everyone to see
I've seen the pain and sorrow tearing
Apart this land that once was free
And every time I think about it
It puts a fear inside of me
That we should live with this confusion
That this is what our children see
What happened-To our neighborly ways?
Watch out for-the battlefield of today
We see the violence on the T.V.
Another man dead on the street
We lock the doors and close our curtains
We feel the closeness of the heat
The little ones don't understand it
'Why can't we play out after dark'?
We've got to teach them caution wisely
They've got to feel it in their heart
What happened -to our neighborly ways?
Watch out for-The battlefield of today
