There Is No Peace In The Grave Poem by Thabani Khumalo

There Is No Peace In The Grave

In the active council of sorcery,
I will give resounding gratitude
for the time and the opportunity for me
to stand beside the hallowed table of bones.

I quote all of you
my relatives to be exonerated
from the binding dark cloud of the cold abyss below,
you of whom I blindly bade farewell -
you whom I buried in painful tears and in supperated sores -
you of whom I pleaded upon to rest in peace when I didn't know
there is no peace in the grave -
there just is the stench of decomposition and the sordid movement of worms:

May all the fallen Khumalo, Mguni,
Mahlangu, Dlamini,
Tshili, Mkandla,
Jubane, Tshange,
Hlabangane, Masina,
Fuyana...
At this moment rise and move in all the set ways -
Rise in a continuous strong chain of endless love,
do not prohibit to being cleansed in blood and water from the five scars;

Move to the hands of conveyance that succor the turbulences of the heart;
to the shepherds that lead up through the grades of the heavenly firmament;
to the twelve Apostles who lead up in a bright way to the guiding stars;

to the crystals that gleam like gems
and be rewarded in new and incorruptible precious souls;
To the chest of the Mother -
who is the thurl embodiment of the three suns that shine inside and out -
the Mother who is the true incarnate of God -
the one hallowed head of the present day Elect -
one who is the true voice of creation to the world.

Move and be nurtured again as newly born babies,
feed from the healthy breast of Dashe the sovereign goddess -
this is where you shall be stripped of the dark apparel of death
and be adorned in garments white like those of the angels above,
sheltered and redressed in gen for that big day.

Baptized in the wisdom of the high heavens,
you shall return to me shortly on the day of pentecost,
gleaming brand new with all the colors of life.
I shall then be able to tune the children at the apex of my spirit,
to refrain from human instruction that does not
portray to have equal love for every human being.
Our children will learn to isolate all the malicious people
who intend to be violent and make other people angry.
They will not stand in allegiance to violent laws.

We are a family of peace!
