Things I've Seen Poem by Ibn Ali

Things I've Seen

I have been convinced
She's the rarest thing I've seen
And things I've seen
Things that keep
And won't decay
Hate is no retort, but why sedate
Let it rage,

Perfection wasn't made for human beings
But she's the closest thing I've seen
And things I've seen
That God made
Gave form, imbued with a soul
How well you've been adorned
And adored
Measured, tailored to suit exactly who you were for

And she's the closest thing to love I've felt
And love I felt
It was brief, but it was meant
I found it inbetween the breaths
And that's how long it felt
Just a step
The sweetest stride I took
Before she left
And my foot touched the ground to mark the end

And am I not the kindest one you've known
And ones you've known
The same ones that set the tone
The ones that fell the bar and made it low
All before, they were all before
She
She that I adore
She that is the reason and the cause
To love her is to breathe, it takes no effort and it feels a need
Aren't we the saddest story told
And stories told......
