Things That Mattered

A bike
a dog
a friend

Apples
rain
and ringworm

Chilblains and
throwing stones

Fishing
buttermilk and
hitting things

Pubic hair
Football boots, and
a railroad without rails

Toffee
more rain and
Slim Whitman

Hazel nuts and
Donkeys, oh
and sticks

Cigarettes
Branches
and more rain

Balls
Crows
Stamps
Pen knifes
and turnips

Ruby Murrey
and Mayflys

More pubic hair
and more bloody rain
