Things We Used To Do Poem by Cherry Joy Clamor

Things We Used To Do

We used to walk along the same road once until we reached the fork.
We used to smile for the exact same reason.
We used to intertwine our fingers as we savour the joy of being us.
We used to laugh our hearts out with a simple gesture of humour.
We used to dream together under the starry canopy.
We used to wipe the tears that cascaded listlessly down the ground.
We used to find appeasement in each other's presence.
We used to indulge ourselves in the loveliness of spoken words.
We used to fill our shortcomings with the sound of whisper.
We used to find our heartbeats dramatically melodious in every way.
We used to search the mystery of the veiled power of love in our touch.
We used to search our purpose in each other's gaze.
We used to love each other unfathomably.

We used to.

Until we let go of our intertwined fingers and chose different paths.
Until we let go of our dreams and chased the uncertainty of the morrow.

We moved forward yet we still look back.

Nonchalantly, we will walk further, until the road that we once walked on,
will become a perishing mirage.
A fading pavement.
A story meant to be untold.
