Thirteenth Birthday Poem by Paul Reed

Thirteenth Birthday

Rating: 5.0

The raindrops nestled
On the lush greenery
Of the lilac tree,
The sun dipped in and out
Of twilight clouds;

A moment was held in suspense
Captive, breathing,
Away from the noisy party
And cheers and shrieks
Of your thirteenth birthday;

Candles assembled,
Cake cut,
'Happy Birthday' sung,
As the lilac tree rested
Under the evening sun.
