This Pool Poem by Lindsay Crosby

dragons fail here
crusaders squirm
knights charge despite
kingdoms fall
loves undone
in this whirling whirling pool

chased are our heroes
poisoned are our dreams
life turned cruel
life unknown
in this whirling whirling pool

birds of prey above my head
like I have never seen
swoop down
stealing
the crusts to which I cling

brave soldiers cower
no finest hour
no sense of self
no comfort in wealth
in this whirling whirling pool
