This Time That Is, And What Has Come To Us Now Poem by Micer Ambrosius

This Time That Is, And What Has Come To Us Now

This Time that is, and What has come to us now

we live in a time when there is no time
what has been, shall be seen no more
what is yet to come, is all betrayed
too much is done, that will not be undone

thoul’t come no more, dear sweet spirit
heart and soul of very seventh heaven..

our love-fire, the Lord of all the earth
has gone out into the world, is no more
found, as before, in this our earthen life
among the daughters and sons of prayer

once, there were words, still to be heard
for entreaty, in pleading, words of sorrow,
shouts of joy, exclamations, mirrors of hope

yet would we not hearken, nor soften our hearts
fury and hatred stifled all kindness and care

after so many deaths, the very air is foul
every aspect is shuttered and closed off;

darkened, the day is drawn like a thick veil
over the night of the soul, for us to grope
and fumble our way down to a noisome pit -

none can discern the way, if one there is
to be found with the blind leading the blind

o, if we will not show mercy, change of heart
may the good earth below swiftly entomb us,
and be it long forgotten that ever we were
