Thor's Creation Poem by Douglas Nichols

Warm moist air moves heavenward from updrafts below
Which condenses, thus white clouds are born.
Accumulation of the water increases in time
And water droplets begin to form.

The poles of the cloud differentials they become,
The bottom being warm and the upper being cold.
Water rises up and hail progresses down.
The phasic brothers collide causing static charge to unfold.

Negative charge emerges on the bottom
With positive occurring on top.
The earth's surface responds to that up above
And positive charge begins to develop.

The cloud sends a channel--
A 'stepped leader' is its name.
It progresses ever downward
Neutralization to claim.

The charged earth reaches upward,
As a 'streamer' it flies true.
Clasping hands with the leader;
A hot spark comes to view.

This lightening is surrounded
By intense heat rapidly founded,
A great shock wave the result,
And great thunder is resounded.
